From 1973-1977, Betty starred as a recurring character on the hit series The "Mary Tyler Moore Show" as the spunky, sharp-tongued, man-hungry gourmet with a cooking program, Sue Anne Nivens. Betty won Emmy awards two consecutive years for her portrayal of Sue Anne Nivens, in 1975 and 1976.Later she starred in her best remembered role on the hit comedy series, "The Golden Girls" (1985-1992), in which she portrayed the character of Rose Nylund, a lovable, but naive farm girl. Betty's portrayal of the innocent Scandanavian nit-wit garnered much acclaim.
