Amanda Seyfried attends 'Red Riding Hood' premiere

The classic tale is re-imagined in this latest big screen version of 'Red Riding Hood. Gone is the sweet little girl depicted by the Brothers Grimm and a much darker tale is depicted.

Although rumored to be dating Ryan Phillippe, Amanda Seyfried opted to go solo to the Los Angeles premiere of 'Red Riding Hood' at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Monday, March 7, 2011. It was later revealed that he was at the after-party.

Seyfried tells USA today that she loved the darker feel of the movie. "I read the script and I was like, a murder mystery and some sex, why not?" she laughed. "It's our own version and it's not supposed to be exactly what we knew as children. It's a fun direction, it's for a lot of young audiences. All the relationships in the movie and the way we communicate in the movie are very contemporary but it's set in this medieval dark, Gothic town."

The Red carpet guest list included co-stars Gary Oldman, Virginia Madsen, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Adrian Holmes, Michael Shanks, Kacey Rohl as well as director Catherine Hardwicke. Also spotted were American Idol's top 13, red carpet-ready for their first movie premiere. About the film:

For decades, the people of the village of Daggerhorn have maintained an uneasy truce with the werewolf, who prowls at every full moon, by offering the beast a monthly animal sacrifice to quench its appetite. But under a blood red moon, the wolf changes the stakes by taking the life of one of their own.

The victim is the older sister of Valerie (Seyfried), a beautiful, young woman, who has just found out that her parents (Burke and Madsen) have arranged for her to marry Henry (Irons), the scion of the town’s wealthiest family. But Valerie wants only Peter (Fernandez), the poor woodcutter she has loved all her life. Unwilling to be parted, the couple was planning to run away together, but, in a horrifying instant, the wolf changes everything.

As the townspeople hunger for revenge, famed werewolf hunter Father Solomon (Oldman) is summoned to Daggerhorn to kill the beast once and for all. But Solomon’s arrival brings only more turmoil as he warns everyone that the werewolf takes human form by day and could be any one of them. No one is above suspicion. Panic grips the town as the death toll rises with each red moon, tearing apart the once close-knit village. But it is Valerie who discovers she has a unique connection to the wolf that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect…and bait.

The film opens this Friday.
