PictureLux on the red carpet report: 'Splice' premiere
Oscar winner Adrien Brody returns to the big screen in the latest
sci-fii thriller 'Splice,'. The premiere was held on Wednesday
June 2, 2010 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles where he shared
his thoughts with ET as to why he took the role. "I'm trying
to find opportunities that allow me to be playful with my work. I'm a
fan of the genre," Brody says of working on 'Splice.' "It's one of the
most unusual scripts that I've read," Brody tells ET. "It's a fun
experience. It's not just about having a film scare you, but being
transported to a surreal world." The film co-stars Delphine
Chaneac and David Hewlett who were also present on the Red Carpet as
well as producers Joel Silver and Guillermo Del Toro. Celebrity guests
included Robert Downey Jr., Tony Hawk, Mark-Pail Gosselaar, Simon Rex
and Kenny G among others. (Photo © 2010 Joe Martinez/PictureLux)
The film centers on superstar genetic
engineers Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley) who specialize in
splicing DNA from different animals to create incredible new hybrids.
Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize
science and medicine. But when the pharmaceutical company that funds
their research forbids it, Clive and Elsa secretly take their boldest
experimentation underground--risking their careers by pushing the
boundaries of science to serve their own curiosity and ambition.
The result is Dren, an amazing, strangely beautiful creature of
uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments.
At first, Dren exceeds their wildest dreams. But as she grows and
learns at an accelerated rate, her existence threatens to become their
worst nightmare. 'Splice' is set to be released across the U.S. on June
4, 2010. View more celebrity photos of Adrien Brody at PictureLux Imagesearch
