According to the Los Angeles Times, "Avatar", James Cameron's $310-million sci-fi spectacle, could gross $230 million worldwide by Sunday.One of the most expensive movies of all time is poised for a huge box office debut this weekend, though nowhere close to breaking records. The huge buzz for the film began in July after director James Cameron showed about 20 minutes of it at Comic-Con. This weekend, you can all enter the mystical world of "Avatar" and finally see all 162 spectacular minutes.

In advance to all of this, James Cameron, Sigourney Weaver and British singer Leona Lewis were just a a few of the notables that hit the red carpet Wednesday, December 16th for the 20th Century Fox Premiere of the hotly anticipated "Avatar". The parade of celebrities at the event held at Mann's Grauman Chinese Theatre included Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Audrina Patridge, Virginia Madsen and many more.

About the film: Avatar takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

The Avatar cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver. Academy Award-winning visual effects house, WETA Digital, renowned for its work in "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy and "King Kong," will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photorealistic 3D imagery that will transport the audience into a world beyond imagination.
